The traditional photo together before school
Sean was assigned a student sponsor who has been emailing him since before we arrived. She told him lots of details about the school. Will met several classmates at Vacation Bible School a couple weeks ago.
AFNORTH International School is very small...only about 1500 or so students in preK-12 combined. Sean's largest class has 17 students, his smallest, 8. Will's class has 22 students. There are 2 other 5th grades, so 66 5th graders, total.

Will gets his own locker. He's in the big leagues now!
Will is changing classes like a big kid now, and likes the variety of teachers. He says his favorite class right now is German. All the elementary kids have German instruction every day. His math teacher is Canadian and his Science/Social Studies teacher is British. His homeroom/Literacy teacher is American.
The 5th grade prepares all year for a week long bike trip a the end of the school year. We have heard that it is an awesome experience for the kids. They stay in a youth hostel and visit many historic Dutch sights, including a WWII war memorial and cemetery.
It took a couple of weeks, but Sean was able to drop art and add band. He was delighted that things worked out for that. He is also taking Archetectural Design, German II, Geometry, Biology and honors English/World History. We are very happy with the selection of classes given how small the school is.

What every High School Freshman wants....'mommy' at the front door of school to take his photo. Honestly, I was there after taking Will to his classroom...this was just a fluke!
Everyone has been very welcoming to our family and to the kids. So far, the school year is off to a great start.
