March 24-26
One can't forget to update folks on our New York trip with Sean's Boy Scout troop. It was the last trip we went on as a family with Sean's troop. We chartered a bus to take us to the Navy Lodge on Staten Island where we bunked each night. The first day we took the Staten Island Ferry across to Manhattan in the morning. We visited the World Trade Center 9/11 site, China Town, Little Italy (where we had a fabulous lunch!) and then walked down to the Statue of Liberty staging area. Even though we bought advance tickets, the line to board the ferry was so long, we missed our tour time. We'll have to do that when we visit again. All was not lost, as Tracy bought a 'bargain' purse from one of the vendors in that area. By evening we were at Times Square and in the biggest Toys R Us store we've ever seen. We then walked down to Rockefeller Center to watch the the ice skaters.
Sunday morning we went to mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral and then toured the Empire State Building. After, we ate lunch at an awesome NY pizza restaurant and toured the big Macy's before heading back to DC. We left this interesting, diverse city with a list of things we want to do next time we visit.
