Happy New Year!!

We decided that since it is our last New Year in the States for awhile, and it was our First New Year in our new house, we'd have a party. Although spur of the moment, things came together very well. Many of our friends and their children came and there was loads of food and drink for all. The kdis watched movies and hung out in the basement while the adults partied upstairs.

Chris set up a 'You Don't Know Jack' tournament in the dining room and we all had a chance to testing our trivia knowledge. He and our friend Herman came down as the final two, with Herman winning out in the end. He needed proof to take home to his teenager. He seemed to think she'd never believe him to be a winner at something!

Midnight came quickly with yelling, wishes of a happy new year, champagne uncorking and poppers popping. The kids took sparklers outside and watched the neighbors set off fireworks.

We finally dropped into bed by 3 a.m., after cleaning up a bit. Thank you to mom and dad who worked their tails off helping us prepare for the party and clean up afterward!

We had a great time. Was a wonderful way to begin 2006.
I will forever remember...Maryn sitting on the stairs in the wee hours of January 1, crying and saying she wanted a nap and her "baba"

Why did i choose to be called grama'ria? Because Mary Anne and Ed Ruane always called Mrs. Feeney, Gram. I was close to her all those years growing up across the street. So the combination of gram and maria just naturally became grama'ria :-)
